Inside the Tantric Practitioners’ World
Deepening the Practice
Dear Friends,
Many of you have experienced the healing power of Tantra Massage — the calm presence, the flow of energy, the sense of renewal and balance. But have you ever wondered how tantric practitioners themselves stay balanced, grounded, and inspired in the work they do?
Behind every nurturing session is a practitioner who continually learns, refines, and deepens their own spiritual and energetic practice. Just like any healing art, tantra is not something one simply masters — it’s a living, breathing path that evolves with experience, supervision, and ongoing training.
Growing as practitioners
In November, I’ll be returning to Ireland to lead a professional training called Deepening the Practice at Nirvana Tantric Healing Centre in Aghavas, Co. Leitrim, hosted by the wonderful Lynne Boles.
This three-day training supports tantra massage professionals in reconnecting with the energetic and spiritual foundations of their work — helping them cultivate presence, maintain healthy boundaries, and stay grounded while working closely with others’ emotions and energy fields.
It’s deeply rewarding work, but also demanding. Practitioners spend long hours being fully present, offering physical and energetic care while maintaining empathy, clarity, and focus. Without good grounding and energy management, it’s easy to experience burnout — a sense of emotional or energetic depletion that can dull both passion and intuition.
Why do so many practitioners leave the field?
The world of tantra massage, especially for women practitioners, can be both profoundly beautiful and quietly challenging. Many enter this work with devotion and sensitivity, yet a large proportion step away within just a few years, often long before the ten-year mark.
The reasons are many:
• Energetic exhaustion from holding deep emotional and physical space for others
• Blurring of boundaries, especially when clients project unmet emotional or sexual needs
• Lack of peer support or supervision, leading to isolation
• The emotional weight of continually giving without sufficient replenishment
Alongside the emotional and energetic investment, many ethical practitioners also devote significant financial resources to ongoing study and supervision, often spending many thousands over the years on professional training in multiple healing modalities. These investments reflect a deep commitment to practising safely, respectfully, and with integrity.
It’s one reason that authentic, well-held tantra sessions may seem costly at first glance, but for those who know the work, the value lies in the depth, safety, and presence that such training makes possible.
When the giver is nourished, the giving becomes effortless. In tantra, as in life, the flow between giving and receiving is what keeps the heart open, the energy alive, and the work sacred.
This is why ongoing training, peer reflection, and mentorship are not luxuries, they’re essential. They help practitioners re-centre, release what doesn’t belong to them, and reconnect with the sacred intention of the work.
And when practitioners stay healthy and inspired, clients feel the difference, sessions become lighter, clearer, more grounded, and more transformative for everyone involved.
A glimpse into Ireland
Although this particular training is in Ireland, its message and intention touch everyone in our wider community — across Scotland, Ireland, and beyond.
While there, I’ll also be offering a small number of private sessions at Nirvana Tantra Centre between 18–20 November for women, men and couples, including:
- Four-Handed Tantra Massage with myself and Leanne, one of my graduates.
- Private Coaching and Consultations
- Personal Tantric Training and Tantra Retreats for Men, Women & Couples
- Couples Tantric Massage with myself and Leanne
- Leanne’s solo Tantra Massage sessions between 16–20 November
If you’re in Ireland and would like to experience one of these sessions, please get in touch soon as spaces are limited.
A continuing journey
For me, this work is never static. Each training, each supervision circle, and each connection with clients and students deepens the path.
To those of you who’ve received sessions, enquired, or simply followed along — you’re part of that journey too. Your openness and curiosity help shape a community that values awareness, integrity, and care in all its forms.
